How we work

Free site visit
We come to see the space, measure the areas and listen to how you want to use the garden. The site visit is free and commits you to nothing.
Design and quote
We give you the site plan, the planting list and a written quote with separate items, so you decide on a complete document.
Build
We prepare the ground, install the irrigation system and plant everything on the dates agreed with you.
Handover and first season
When the work is done we walk you round the finished garden and explain the care it needs in its first season, which you can do yourself or leave to us under a maintenance contract.

The design starts from the soil

On the Vercelli plain the soil changes a great deal from one garden to the next: clay soils that hold water, loose soils near the rivers, damp ground next to the rice fields. Verde Vercelli starts there, because a lawn or a hedge chosen without looking at the soil has to be redone after a few seasons. The design also takes in the aspect, how you will use the garden and how much time you want to give it: these are what decide the plants. The irrigation system is drawn together with the beds, not added afterwards.

Do I see the design before the quote?

Verde Vercelli presents the garden design — site plan and planting list — together with the written quote that follows the free site visit, so you can see what will be built before deciding whether to go ahead.

Can I keep the plants I already have?

Almost always: during the site visit Verde Vercelli assesses every existing plant and keeps it in the design if it is healthy and suits the new garden. Only unstable specimens, or ones that would smother everything else, are removed.

What is the best season to create a new garden?

Verde Vercelli concentrates seeding and planting in spring and autumn, when the ground on the Vercelli plain can be worked and plants have time to root before the heat or the frost. The exact dates are set in the quote.
